Prof. Emeritus Zvi Eisikovits

Prof. Zvi Eisikovits Zvi Eisikovits, Ph.D., is a Professor Emeritus of Social Welfare at the University of Haifa. He is former Dean of the Faculty of Welfare and Health Sciences & former Head of the School of Criminology. Has been Director of the Center for the Study of Society between1992 and 2016. Prof. Eisikovits is a nationally and internationally known expert in the study and prevention of interpersonal violence and in the use of qualitative research methods in studying woman abuse. He performed and directed national surveys on women abuse, child abuse and elder abuse and developed intervention models implemented nationwide. He wrote more than 130 articles in refereed journals and wrote or edited five books. He serves as a member of editorial boards of several journals on woman abuse and qualitative research and is a recipient of large grants from prestigious sources such as the HF Guggenheim Foundation, Minerva Foundation, DIP, DFG, and Israel Science Foundation. Prof. Eisikovits has been Co-P.I. with Professor Rachel Lev-Wiesel of a nationwide study funded by Traiana Tech. Ltd. on the incidence, prevalence and reporting of child abuse and neglect. He was recently awarded a Minerva Center along with Prof Tova-Band Winterstein and Prof. Israel Doron, Prof. Tzvi Dwoletzki and Prof Yakov Bachner as co-principal investigator. He is married with Prof. Rivka Eisikovits,Ph.D., an educational anthropologist and Professor Emerita at the University of Haifa, Faculty of Education and has one son, Prof. Nir Eisikovits, Ph.D., an associate professor of legal and political philosophy and director of The Center of Applied Ethics at the University of Massachusetts, Boston
