Prof. Aviad Tur-Sinai
Professor Aviad Tur-Sinai, Ph.D, is a Full Professor at the School of Public Health, the Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences, University of Haifa, Israel. His main research areas are Health Economics, Social Economics and Financial Gerontology. He deals with interdisciplinary questions of socioeconomic policy design and analysis of policy implications among older adults, with emphasis on assuring social security for the purpose of coping with poverty and inequality among older adults; economic mobility and employment patterns before and after the official retirement age. He received his Ph.D. from the School of Economics at Tel Aviv University. He did post-doctoral studies at the Israel Gerontological Data Center (the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem) and further post-doctoral studies at the University of Rochester Medical Center, New York.
Professor Tur-Sinai’s studies focus on two main aspects in recent years. The first centers on health economics, with emphasis on understanding disparities in economic expenditure and the burden on older adults’ households in healthcare-system funding, and inequality in funding healthcare expenditure. The second research field concerns on the economies of the older adults population, which he probes in a wide variety of contexts such as employment structure in advanced years, economic wellbeing after retirement, and governmental and public responsibilities in early retirement from the labor force.
